Fitting nicely in the palm of your hand, Black Egg Eggplants create small and delectable fruits, unlike the big, meaty and tasteless varieties you see in the supermarket. This small Japanese eggplant is a generous producer of unique round fruit that grow to 3" in diameter. It has glossy purple-black skin, a purple calyx, and tender flesh. The plant is upright and grows well in warm climates.
日本圓茄又叫「米茄子」、「日本蛋茄」，在日本是很受歡迎的品種。表皮黝黑，外型短小渾圓，十分討喜，茄肉飽滿有彈性。沒有茄子特有的菜草腥味，皮肉較硬，不適合魚香、清炒，如果經過碳烤、熱炒，質地會變得軟綿可口，也可以切成片狀做酥炸，是日式居酒屋常用的食材，會搭配味噌、照燒醬烘烤、燒煮。
